Meet Your Five Star Team
Franchise Owners - Tara & Gibbs Murayama
Five cheers for our Five Star leader Tara Murayama! She and her husband, Gibbs, are the owners of this Five Star Painting franchise. Both are native to the D.C. metro area and currently live in and raise their two kids in Montgomery County. Transitioning into the franchise industry was natural for Tara. She was brought up in a family owned kitchen and bath remodeling business. She then went on to get her B.A. at Mount Vernon College in Interior Design. When not at Five Star, Tara can be found waving hello from her car. She’s constantly on the road, driving her daughter throughout DMV area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) for the Nation’s Capital Swim Club. She is a parent volunteer and her daughter’s number one fan! It’s also possible you may have crossed paths with Tara at the gym, where she faithfully works out 6 days a week. We would be remiss if we forgot to add that Tara is also a mom to two bossy bulldogs. Campbell is a Frenchie and Hailey is an English; both agreed to take charge of and adopt the family. It’s no wonder you can find our energetic proprietor tucked in and asleep most nights by 9pm!
General Manager - David Murayama
Sign “Hello!” to David Murayama, our General Manager, bookkeeper, problem solver, and all-around great guy. Yes, he is also Tara and Gibb’s son. David attends Montgomery College, while continuing to function as a great asset to Five Star. It’s nothing but blue skies ahead in this young man’s future. His life plan includes transferring to a four year university. David knows for certain that he wants to major in an area that will allow him to use his skills as a sign language interpreter. In his spare time, if David isn’t taking a quick nap, you can find him playing video games or hanging out with friends.
Project Manager - LeAnn
When you wish upon a star, our enchanting Project Manager, LeAnn, appears to make sure your job goes smoothly. If the customer isn’t happy, LeAnn isn’t happy. She’s the “go-to person” on site. With her imaginary wand, LeAnn has a dazzling ability to deliver solutions to any problems that may arise. Hearing a Disney reference? Yes, this crazy cat lady is into all things Disney! Be careful or before you can say “primer”, she may have painted a Disney character on your wall.
What sets us apart from other painting companies?
We love to answer this question! We pride ourselves on superior customer service and workmanship and are not afraid to go the extra mile for our customers. In fact, Tara and a customer have texted at 7pm on a Friday night about paint sheen so that the customer can pick a color the following morning for kitchen cabinets. LeAnn has provided extra lighting for painters when a job was almost done, but nighttime was setting in! When a customer was concerned that a baby grand piano might get damaged, David personally wrapped up the piano and threw a drop cloth over the wrap, as a triple precaution, to help alleviate our customer’s anxiety. We are reachable and accountable, know our products, supervise all our jobs, and guarantee our workmanship.
