Dan Schaeffer– Owner
Dan Schaeffer grew up in New Jersey and went to Boston University, where he studied hotel and restaurant management. After college, he worked in New York City in a variety of management roles in the food, wine, and hotel industries. He moved to Austin in 2004 to get his MBA at UT Austin (Hook 'Em!). After business school, he worked for Whole Foods Market as a buyer on the private label team. Dan always had a passion for delivering exceptional service, which is the cornerstone of Five Star Painting. Dan and his wife, Amanda, love living in Austin and supporting the local community.
Dan Ouellette – VP of Operations
Dan Ouellette (Dan-O) joined Five Star Painting in July 2011 as VP of Operations. In that role, Dan manages both residential and commercial projects and collaborates on a variety of marketing, technology, and operations initiatives. Dan is originally from New England and has dual degrees in both business management and construction technology. His past field experience includes extensive work in both residential and commercial settings as a finish carpenter, project manager, and superintendent. He is adept at managing complex projects and facilitated the renovation of a college dormitory, including the coordination of all subcontractors and day-to-day activities. Dan brings a passion for delivering first-class service to his clients and exceeding their expectations. Dan and his wife Sheila are very active in the National Lung Cancer Partnership and recently brought the Free to Breathe race to Austin, where they have raised a significant amount of money for this wonderful organization.
Karlos Salinas – VP Operations / Estimator
Originally from San Angelo, Karlos is a Texas native who joined Five Star Painting in January 2015. Prior to joining the team, Karlos worked for Sherwin Williams for five years, first in San Angelo and most recently at one of the leading retail locations in Austin. He moved to Austin in August 2014 to be closer to the family. In his free time, Karlos is involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Austin and enjoys basketball and golf. Karlos brings his passion for customer service and knowledge of paint products and systems to every project!
George Ouellette – Sales Manager
George Ouellette joined the Five Star Painting sales team in September 2016. He brings a wealth of experience in both the public and private sector having served in the U.S. Army for ten years in Technology and process improvement roles. George has held senior roles in technology, medical, financial and operational roles for financial services, engineering, medical and environmental consulting industries. His focus for Five Star Painting is to deliver high-quality customer service to our clients while helping the company improve processes internally.
Dan Pierce - Project Manager
The third Dan to join our team at Five Star Painting in March of 2017. Dan-P has experience in customer service and customer satisfaction dating back to the 1980's. His experience in construction and sales makes him a perfect fit for our Project Manager Position. After spending four years of mixing Benjamin Moore paint, Dan and his wife Tracey decided it was time to move to the warmer weather of Austin, Texas. Dan says, "My favorite thing to do is spending time with my wife and children over the weekend when they put me in charge of buying lunch or dinner".
Robert Lutz - Sales Manager
Robert Lutz is a life-long Austinite, having relocated here from upstate NY in the late 1970's after college. He spent his first 11 years in Austin as a painter and paint contractor when Austin was quite a bit different than it is today. For the last thirty years, he's worked in sales, account management, and business development mostly in the electronic imaging industry. In his spare time, Robert loves playing guitar. He brings a passion for customer service to each of his projects.
Dalilah Anaya - Project Manager
Dalilah is originally from El Paso, Texas and has lived in Austin for five years. She has extensive customer service experience and has spent time coaching youth sports. She joined the Five Star team in April 2019 and enjoys working out and eating tacos!
