Meet Your Five Star Team

Franchise Owners - Tara & Gibbs Murayama

Five cheers to our leader Tara Murayama. She is the owner, along with her husband Gibbs, of this Five Star Painting franchise. Both are natives to the D.C. metro area and continue to live and raise their two kids in Montgomery County. Rolling into the industry, without a shade of doubt, was a natural for Tara. She was brought up in a family-owned kitchen and bath remodeling business. She then went on to seal up a B.A. at Mount Vernon College in Interior Design. It’s possible you have crossed paths with Tara at the gym, where she faithfully works out six days a week. We would be remiss if we forgot to add: Tara is also mom to two bossy bulldogs. Campbell is a Frenchie and Hailey an English, and both agreed to adopt the family and take charge. They are the reason that Tara volunteers with Mutts Matter Rescue performing telephone application interviews. It’s her small way of helping other rescue dogs find loving homes.

Project Manager - LeAnn

Once you wish upon a star, our enchanting Project Manager, Lee Ann White, appears to make sure your job goes smoothly. If the customer is not happy, LeAnn is not happy. She’s the “go-to” person onsite. With her imaginary wand, LeAnn has a dazzling ability to deliver solutions to any problems that may arise. Hearing a Disney reference? Yes, this cat lady is into all things Disney! Be careful or before you can say “primer,” she may have painted a Disney character on your wall.

What sets us apart from other painting companies?

We love to answer this question! We pride ourselves on superior customer service and workmanship. Whether Tara and a customer are texting at 7pm on a Friday night about paint sheen so he can pick the color Saturday morning for kitchen cabinets, or it’s getting dark but the painters only need about 15 more minutes to finish the job. Extra lighting, LeAnn is on it, never fear! There is great concern over a baby grand piano getting damaged. LeeAnn personally wraps up the piano and throws a drop cloth over the wrap, as a triple precaution, to help alleviate our customer’s anxiety. We are reachable, accountable, know our products, supervise all our jobs and guarantee our workmanship.
