Meet Our Team!

Mike - Ownermike and deana

Mike originally grew up in Idaho, but eventually found his way to Texas through career decisions and has now lived in the Dallas area for the last 30 years. He has a degree in electrical engineering from BYU, and after spending 26 years in the engineering business, he decided in 2009 to open his own business. He takes pride in running a construction company with engineering discipline, taking what used to be just Mike and a couple of painters, to a 75 person operation providing the best quality painting in the entire DFW area. This has become a family owned and operated business- Mike and Deanna’s son, Josh is the general manager, son-in-law JP is the sales manager, and daughter Stacy is the office manager. Mike loves how fun and challenging it is growing a business and working with family in the process. When he’s not working, Mike enjoys spending time at his cabin in Idaho, riding Harleys, and being outdoors. He also of course loves spending as much time as possible with his grandkids.

Deanna- Owner, Bookkeeper

Deanna was born in Colorado, but as her father was in the Air Force she moved quite a bit when she was younger. When he retired, their family moved to Idaho where she met Mike in high school. Deanna has many years of experience working in accounting and secretarial jobs. She loves sewing and needlework, which has helped her develop a particular talent for paying attention to small steps to putting something bigger together. Being detail-oriented and patient are crucial qualities for a bookkeeper! Mike and Deanna have 4 children who have all worked for the company at one time or another. She loves that it is a family owned and operated business. They also have 4 beautiful grandchildren who they love to spoil! One of her favorite things to do when she has time off is traveling, especially on cruises, seeing amazing sites all over the world.


Josh-General Manager

Josh has 8 years of experience with Five Star Painting- 7 years with us here in Dallas, and 1 year working in the corporate office in Waco, TX. His work history as a call center manager and the manager of a restaurant helped him develop remarkable customer service and problem resolution skills. He also trained other franchise owners how to open, start, and maintain a Five Star Painting business all over the country and Canada while at the corporate office. He’s a Five Star Painting expert! Josh and his wife, Sierra have been married for 2 years, and have a sweet baby boy named Oliver. They enjoy going to Stars and Rangers games, musicals at Fair Park and trying out any sushi restaurant.


Dustin- Operations Manager

Dustin was born in Southwest Minnesota, however he spent most of his childhood in Parker, Colorado. As an adult he has lived in many places including North Carolina, California, Japan, Australia, and Arizona, before finally settling in Texas. Dustin spent years in the Marine Corps operating as the Shop Chief for the Motor Transport Platoon in the most decorated unit in the Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge he went to work in sales in many fortune 500 companies. Dustin loves his role as Operations Manager because it allows him to problem solve and spend time interacting with customers. He says being with customers as the job wraps up is what keeps his motor running. Dustin has a beautiful wife, 3 kids- Ryder, Brisyn, and Hope, and they are also expecting a baby boy, Dustin Jr., in June.

Stacy- Office Manager

Stacy has been with us at Five Star Painting for over 9 years. She started working here as a new mom, when her daughter was only 2 weeks old! As a production manager she would take her daughter with her to jobs, then after a few years she moved to sales. After her 3rd daughter was born she started working in the office. She has worked in every part of the company from production to sales, color consults, and office administration, and worked as a manager for the customer service team at Melaleuca when she was in college. When she’s not working, Stacy’s favorite thing to do is watching her daughters Bella and Sophia dance and play soccer. She also loves going to concerts and traveling. So far, her favorite vacations have been to Italy, France, Spain, England, Galapagos, Ecuador, and Island Park Idaho. She also loves trying new foods and everything Harry Potter.


Cristina- Administrator and Scheduler

Cristina has an extensive job history as a legal assistant/secretary dealing with bankruptcy, family law, personal injury, medical malpractice, real estate, and employment law. She worked in one of the top law firms in Dallas before leaving to become a stay at home mom with her kids for a while. Cristina has incredible organizational skills and is a great multitasker. When she’s not working, you can usually find her fishing or chauffeuring her kids around to their various activities. Cristina lives in Carrollton with her husband, Dennis and kids, Adriana and Isaiah, and baby Olivia- due in June!


Alison- Marketing Administrator

Alison is the face behind all of our social media posts, review responses, and before and after pictures. She is very detail-oriented, and really enjoys reading all the positive things people write to us. Besides working here part-time, she also owns her own business as a piano teacher. Alison speaks both English and Spanish, and has a passion for helping low-income and immigrant children in the community learn music so they can have more opportunities in the future. Some of her other favorite things to do are writing songs, cooking, interior design, and babysitting her niece, Liliana. One fun fact about Alison is that she has a goal to visit every state in the United States, and has been to 30 so far! Alison lives in Rockwall with her husband, Hector.



JP was born in Guayaquil Ecuador, moved to Queens, New York as a kid, and grew up on the east coast. He has now lived in Texas for 12 years and loves it! JP has been with us here at Five Star for 7 years now, and prior to that, was a call center manager, and an assistant manager at Walmart. He is definitely outgoing and a people person, and an incredible salesman- he has personally sold and managed over $4.5M worth of painting projects in the area! Something interesting about JP is that he speaks 3 languages, English, Spanish and Italian. JP has been married to Stacy for 12 years and they have 3 little girls, Isabella, Sophia, and Ariana. When they’re not working they enjoy watching their daughters’ dance recitals and soccer games. He also likes scuba diving, skiing, and watching Texas Rangers Baseball as a family.


Herman- Estimator

Herman is one of the best sales experts in our company. He has a bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Industrial Security, he’s completed many sales training courses, and has over 30 years of sales experience in various industries. Herman has a stellar job history as the General Manager of Mutual of Omaha and John Hancock insurance companies, Regional Vice President of Sales for a Fortune 500 company, and even owned his own business for many years selling promotional products to companies. In his free time, Herman loves biking, movies, and concerts, and he has been a magician for 40 years! Besides being a good friend and father figure to many of his coworkers, he is also the father of 4 kids, and has 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson. He also just welcomed a new baby granddaughter in April.


Steve- Estimator

With over 15 years of experience in the retail business and business sales industries, as well as part time experience as a golf instructor, Steve contributes so many helpful people skills to our company. He is excellent at identifying what is important to clients and tailoring a solution to their needs. He is honest to a fault and always willing to try something new. One of his life mottos is “lead from the front” and it’s important to him to not be afraid of taking chances, being successful, or failing. One interesting fact about Steve is that him and his sister were both adopted. He loves playing golf, hockey, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends. Steve is a native Texan from Plano, where he lives with his wife, Gabby.

Luis- Estimatorluis

Luis has a lot of experience in the construction/home improvement industry. He has worked with drywall, tape and bed, and painting. He is also a certified water technician, which includes knowing how to remediate mold, and drying wood to the drying standard. Luis is a people person and definitely puts in the time and effort into making sure his clients know he cares about them. He also considers himself a competitive person and likes challenges. Being bilingual and speaking both English and Spanish fluently is an invaluable skill he brings to the table here at Five Star. In his free time, Luis loves to draw, cook, play soccer, work out, and dance. Luis lives in Carrollton with his wife, Rebeca.


Michael- Estimator

Michael is an expert in customer service. With over 10 years in the restaurant industry holding positions such as host all the way up to general manager, he has a lot of experience with customer service and problem solving. Michael enjoys playing paintball, relaxing, volunteering as an assistant youth pastor, and spending time with his family, his wife, and 2 dogs Tampa and Tater.


Keilani- Production Manager

Keilani is our youngest production manager here at Five Star. We love that she brings a lot of energy to the company, is a quick study, and loves learning new things. Being the oldest of all of her siblings, she grew up developing a lot of her natural leadership and organization skills, and in past jobs she has always advanced quickly to managerial positions. Her feminine eye for home design is her superpower when it comes to jobs she manages, and is definitely helpful for homeowners who might be indecisive or want reassurance that their home looks amazing. In her free time, Keilani loves to read and dance.


Juan- Production Manager

Juan has 24 years of military experience. He worked on B1-B and B-52 bombers as a Crew Chief, had positions as an aircraft manager, unit deployment manager, aircraft debrief manager, sortie support manager, maintenance manager and programs manager. Obviously with so much management experience under his belt, and being completely fluent in both English and Spanish, Juan excels at communicating with the painters and customers. He also has a bit of IT experience, which taught a lot about paying attention to detail. Juan has a large family- 5 daughters and 1 son. He loves traveling and spending time outdoors, especially watching his kids play in their various sporting events.
